Key Questions Answered

  • To what extent do developers use or work with AI technologies, and how are these woven into their daily workflows?

  • How are developers integrating AI into their own applications, and what balance are they striking between accessibility and complexity?

  • What is the state of the AI-assisted coding tools market, including developer awareness, usage, experimentation/churn rates, and loyalty/satisfaction (NPS/CSAT)?

  • What are developers' top priorities when evaluating fully-managed generative AI services or APIs (e.g. quality, security, reliability, cost)?

  • What are the dominant deployment patterns among AI/ML developers (e.g. cloud vs. edge/hybrid)?

About this Report

This report is a collaboration between Catchy and SlashData. It explores how developers are navigating “the age of AI”, i.e. the profound shift of the past few years, where breakthroughs in generative models and coding assistants have moved AI from experimental labs into everyday developer workflows. This change is reshaping what it means to be a developer at every level. It’s altering how code is written, how applications are designed, and how developers think about their role in building intelligent systems.

Drawing data from SlashData’s Q3 2025 Developer Nation, this report looks beyond the hype to reveal how AI is being used in practice. We explore the many ways developers are adopting assistants, embedding APIs, and building AI-powered applications.
